FTP on local PC

Post by nitrx »

Steve I've some files that are copied in the ftp slots by cumulus to another folder on my pc there are also some files ftp-ed to a remote server. Last night there was no connection with the remote host.

It seems the local files aren't copied in the case the remote hosts is down (ftp-errors) so my local pages were not updated. Is there a way to avoid this ?

The files to be copied are copied before it even tries to log in to the ftp server, so it's hard to see how the ftp server being down could affect that. Any errors during the copy would be in the diags file, but the logging of the copy itself is only done to the debug log.

Ah, you mean you have realtime selected for the files to be copied?

Yes, in that case I agree it would stop copying if it can't connect to the ftp server. Might be tricky to change that, but I'll have a look.

Copying with a modified batch works independ from the ftp in cumulus , but I just saw I've another file called realtime.log this file is also copied (in realtime) to another local folder

the log is created by this batfile in the c:\cumulus folder and creates realtime.log from realtime.txt

Code: Select all

:start
copy /b realtime.log+realtime.txt realtime.tmp
tail --quiet --lines=120 realtime.tmp > realtime.log
sleep 60
goto start
the realtime.log is copied by cumulus to c:\xxxx\htdocs\rt but when I plug out the cable to internet copyimg stops, hmm while I write this I think its a good idea to put this in the folder were the realtime.log is copied to :?:

I think cumulus can't copy realtime files ?

Sorry, you've lost me. I thought we had already agreed that realtime copying stops if the realtime ftp connection can't be made? But otherwise it works?
