a tip if you are used to tripod, but moving to hostgator...

So recently I moved to this fine software from WSDL. I accidently set the interval level to FTP at one minute rather than five. Tripod/Lycos did not like this at all. Locked account with no warning due to abuse. When I finally contacted them the 1st level support knew it was an FP issue and agreed if I changed setting to five minutes everything should be fine. However he said his boss specifically told him he'd not be the one unlock ftp bandwidth abuse accounts. Over 3 days passed with varying excuses as to why the 2 people that could turn me back on could not be found or whereabouts unknown or there were more pressing issues.
So I moved on and just took the better part of 48 hours recreating my site on hostgator. The domain name is ever so slightly different. Now for the tip and what caused me the most trouble::
In Cumulus under configuration even though the directory gets set as public_html (no leading slash by the way), hostgator expects in the Cumulus files setting under remote file names to also contain public_html as part of the file name..thus each file name needs to be........ public_html/thenthefilename.htm
For hosting on Tripod solely thefilename.htm was needed.
Maybe that will help someone down the line.
Provided Hostgator has no problems with my FTP 5 minute uploads (and don't know why the would, Tripod did not for several years--then 1 mistake and wham), when tripod support finally turns me on I will cancel. Lol if they haven't "cancelled" me first seeing as how I faxed a letter of disapproval to them late Friday afternoon.
