Does anyone know if the small USB dongles can be used to replace the USB lead between the touch-screen and computer? Maplin don't know if it would work so I would be glad of any input.

Thanks.

Hi Peter,

No. USB communications always uses a "Host to Client" architecture, a "Client to Client" (e.g. Console to Dongle) connection cannot work.

Hosts are usually a "computer" (or nowadays some phones and tablets, etc.) and must be able to supply d.c. power to the Client(s). However, all USB dongles and the FO Console are very definitely "Clients", even though FO have fitted a "Type A" (Host) socket onto their Console instead of the correct Type B (Client) socket (or a Type A plug in the case of dongles).

Cheers, Alan.

Thanks Alan, I will have to stick with "steam" technology then.
