http://www.petekutheis.com/76542fthoodm ... ustest.htm
Attempting to use my template I made and have been using all along with WDSL weather software with no problem. The programs seem very similar to the way the Internet settings are so dont understand what I might be doing wrong. When looking at the source the tags seem to be in the proper format, however obviously no data is uploaded. I am getting data to upload to weatherunderground.
Since I am using my own template I am assuming I solely need to use the weather tags and none of the other supplied pages--is that correct ?
In Internet settings under files I have put: E:\Pete\Documents\76542fthoodmetroweathercummulustest.htm as local
left binary unchecked
http://petekutheis.tripod.com/76542ftho ... ustest.htm as the remote file name checked process and FTP
Under Sites: ftp.tripod.com as host tripod says to use port 80 obviously my username and password
for directory:
ftp://ftp.tripod.com/76542fthoodmetrowe ... ustest.htm which is what I used for my site using wsdl weather software (minus the "cummulustest" in the url).
Have auto update checked here as well as FTP rename also have tried uncheck rename and check delete before upload. other boxes unchecked. have tried using active mode as well.
What am I missing ?
Error log throws: FTP connect error, error code=10061 FTP connect time out
Maybe tags aren't being processed and/or something else I cant put my hands on.
Thanks.
Pete

In further trying to understand how to use the simple weather tags and an existing template and not the other html pages, I check my main website
www.petekutheis.com and find that is was overwritten at midnite by the index.htm file from Cumulus.
I just changed it back to how it's supposed to be but how did that happen. In options I have not told the program to make use of any of those templates. USing index to overwrite my home "start" page is going to be a no go. Wished I could sort this...

Are you sure it's port 80? That's very unusual for ftp, as port 80 is http.
That's an ftp URL; you need to enter a directory. You need to enter the relative directory path from the point where you log in to the directory where you want Cumulus to put the files. If you have any files on the 'files' tab, you need to include the full path for those files also.
Error log throws: FTP connect error, error code=10061 FTP connect time out
It's unable to connect; most likely because of trying to use port 80 for ftp.

Yes, if you want to use your own pages, you can untick 'include standard files' and 'include standard images' on the files tab. If you're not using any of the standard stuff, the directory setting on the settings tab becomes unimportant (leave it blank), but you have to put the correct path on the ftp server on the files tab for each file.

Have you definitely unticked the two 'include' boxes? Cumulus doesn't upload the standard files if you don't have those options selected.

Thanks Steve...I completed your steps and the latest ftplog contains :
03:20:04:584 >|553 Permission denied. Filename '
http://petekutheis.tripod.com/76542ftho ... est.htmtmp' is illegal.|
Maybe it doesn't like a temporary file is being created...not sure I've ever seen an .htm extension with a tmp after it.. ? something else I've got wrong.

It looks like you specified something starting with "http://" as a file name, when that's actually an http URL, which only a browser understands. You need to give the file name as the ftp server would understand it. It shouldn't have "http://" on the front, and it should have the server name in it - unless the server name also happens to be part of the directory structure on the ftp server, which it sometime is.

4 AM here--thanks for your help but so far no go...never had problems this long before.. here is the last logfile. I will look again tomorrow.
breakkkk...SUCCESS ! Tried one more thing and it worked---the remotefile simply need to be name.htm cummulus.htm in my case after I shortened the name.
Ok phew.... let's see if I can get all this set back to the url I normally use since everything works now.
Thanks...was so simple -----8 hourslater... thx 4 steering me right !!
http://www.petekutheis.com/76542fthoodmetroweather.htm working fine ! later when I get real ambitious and switch to a Davis maybe I will use the nice templates and try to incorporate with some of the layout I already have here which I quite like. Thanks again. Just need tomorrow to fix one line in my narrative to say I use Cumulus.
Nice program !

Ok I like the program and I have all set up now how I like and likely won't change again until I spring for the Davis.
I got the nice Cumulus templates onto my website. Just simply had to change the name of the indexT to cumulusT and all the rest of the files to reference cumulus rather than index. Or however, now that it's done I am not paying strict attention to remembering the details. But maybe someone with trouble later will be led in the right firection.
Sent a minor contribution your way Steve. Such a niche this all is. But way fun. I had ran into 1 question from someone while doing some research last nite: It was "What is the purpose of a personal weather station; it seems very redundant".
Poor soul that is. lol. Don't realize the fun and intellectual stimulation he or she's missing.

Indeed. It's a strange attitude to take, when the weather is always a topic of conversation. I find that people here on the island often mention my weather station when I'm talking to them, and they're very pleased with the data I put on my web site.
