Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Deleting Lines in Dayfile Editor

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Arrrggghhhh!

I compared the dataTables.altEditor.free.js files on my test instance and the distribution folder.

They are both v2.0, both dated 2017 - quite different contents :groan:
My test version has code for "select" amongst many other changes.

I'm not sure why my diff program was not flagging this, that is tbi. :bash:
Nor do I understand how Paul seems to have the later version as well.

But try this version in /interface/lib/datatableseditor/...

My compare program had an exclude for the /data folder - unfortunately, I did not end the compare string with $ so it was also matching /datatables and /datatableseditor

OK. Succesful i.e. I can delete one (1) line.

However, I did that with the modified (Select... to true) code of datalogs.js and was not able to delete more than one line no matter how many I selected. Restoring the original datalogs.js (so Select... to 'os') did not help.

In all situations only one line was deleted.

(so now my installation now has the new editor code and the restored original datalogs.js and dayfileeditor.js)

We're getting there.

I'm not 100% sure where to go next with this.

It appears that the datatables library is not returning more than one selection for some people. Determining why is a bit hard when it isn't happening on any of your machine/browser combinations!

Neither do I

I just tested it again (deleting two more lines) and it simply does not work.
So, let it be .,. until it is understood ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I agree and there is the alternative of editing the day file.txt as a workaround, which I think is only on rare occasions anyway if things are going well. The issue that caused my problems I believe I have overcome by isolating the USB cable away from the other data cables monitoring solar inverters and energy consumption.
