KNMI in De Bilt (a stone's throw from here) recorded 61 hours of sunshine for January until now.
My little el-cheapo station, combined with the tweaking mentioned above, recorded 60.6 hours of sunshine. Close enough for me.
I think I'll leave the settings as they are for the time being.
