Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

elevated view

This is something I've been messing around with lately. Here's an elevated view of where my webcam points:

I'm thinking I might need to take a chainsaw to the pine trees. ;)

That's cool, I want one :)

What camera did you use?.....was it a stand alone thing, or was it on a very long USB cable? lol

Hmmn, that's not a bad idea, I could use the USB cable to get it out of trees when I crash. ;)

Don't tell my wife but it was her 10Mp Samsung digital camera mounted on the front. For fathers day I'm going to ask for a gopro 2 hero 1080p camera as they're much lighter.

Phil,

What a great toy!! Us boys do like them - what is it, how much and is it easy to fly?

Hi Neil

Its a Gaui 500X quadcopter. Its easier to fly than normal RC helicopters, which I also have, but not something you can just pick up and fly straight away (well I couldn't anyway ;)).

You can get many different options and add ons so depending on what you get it can cost between about $500 - several thousand.

This is what it looks like under the hood.

Great video! Excellent flying by you taking it through the trees. I take it that it was you standing in the shelter? Now when the wife asks me what I want as a present I have the answer.....

Thanks mate, yes that was me in the shelter, I was flying it remotely via a small video screen. I use that picnic ground as a training obstacle course when no one is around. ;)

That was also my first attempt a video editing. :)

I bet there'd be some great scenery to capture up your way Steve (if the wind permitted)! ;)

I did wonder about that, but from a video I found, they seem remarkably capable in the wind.
