Interested to particiipate in translations?!

Post by JacquesD »

Hi!

Weather Blues template is in fine tuning mode... and I'm already thinking of next step in development!
Sunny Weather was for "Rookies", Weather Blues for "Beginers"... and future version will be in PHP for "intermediates"!

I've had some demand for other languages, then I could plan separate "language files" to be available for all others.
but it worth it??? That is my question!

Thanks to answer if you are interested and could take some time for it?

Jacques
Ps Please specify wich language you could work on

Hi Jacques, Duke and anyone else who has tinkered and produced something different!

I really enjoyed getting your Sunny Template up and working ( my skills actually fall short of Rookie, let alone beginner!), but since then I have enjoyed tinkering a bit and have added an Annual Summary chart to the Sunny Template as well as changing the graphs round just a little to suit how I wanted them to appear.

I would never have had the skills or creativity to produce anything that you guys produce, let alone attempt to produce it in a language that was not my native tongue, but if you need any help translating into English, let me know, not that I think you have much difficulty!

I want to keep this thread on topic, but I would like to make some "enhancement" requests to what you have already done Jacques, so I will post them in your Sunny Template thread.

Loving your work, long may it continue, and I would also propose that the templates now get posted up in the Wiki.

Cheers, Arran

Jacques - I already sent you a (dirty) German translation for the sunny weather Template.
However, the German translation (also dirty) has already finnished for the Weather Blues template.
The most difficult thing was to change the Charset into charset=iso-8859-1 to display German "Umlaute" (üöä) correctly when wrapped into my Joomla. (check it out at: http://jankreutzer.de/index.php/wetter-messwerte

I only ave to check the syntax once again and then I am ready to release.
"Dirty" means: only the real visible text on the standard html files were translated.
I will let you know, when I have collected all relevant files and be ready to send to you (Weather Blues Template)

However, I am also ready to translate more upcoming templates into German.
So, German should be covered for future templates

cheers Jan

Hi Jan,

I'm happy to see that you are taking active part in development actual and future! :D

At prior I think to work with encode/decode to have all language easily. Utf-8 seems to be the future for that.

Happy to count on you! :D

Jacques, there are not so much things I can add to this very good software (Cumulus)
Cumulus can be used for free, but donations can be made if someone feels the software is worth to pay for it.
Everybody can pay as much as he can.
I like this. I already donated and now I want to add some value to Cumulus for other users.
I am not an engineer so I can not add code.
I don't have the time to create a Template which can be added , however I can add at least translations as I did for the original cumulus Webpages and for Sunny Template and Weather Blues template.

So I am absolutely okay to help you with your alternative Templates and translations as long they stay for free :-)

Hi Jan,

I'm happy to see that we are thinking the same. I have also donate to Cumulus in appreciation of this fine software.

For translations, language files Will be owned by Cumulus Community! I'll keep a copy of that to keep it living! Actual Cumulus template are too hard to maintain... Then wiki language file are outdated.

I think that language file in Php Will be easier to maintain, as we won't have to modify entire template... Just to add a few more words. Pages I have made will stay... to ad just those few words to language file.

I would help out, but our Australian/Kiwi language is already pretty close to English :)

Hi Bob,

We are open to all languages/dialects. It could be funny to have a large language base available.
And for sure, any translator will be mentioned as author of this language file!

Happy that you join us!

Cheers,
Jacques

Hi!

Wow, two other laguage at once!!

As I have mentioned in earlier post, I will do "input pages" exactly identical to Cumulus template, as show here:
http://meteoduquebec.com/translation

I'll create it to be easiest as it could be... some kind of "Fill the blank"

With your participation added to others, I think it worth it!
Then I will "roll my sleeve" and stard doing real interface.

Thanks,
Jacques

Instead of a single color piece, I could suggest a flag like piece, reflecting the multicultural people that's collaborate with this project.
