WS-2000 and CumulusMX ??

Post by WetCoast »

Hi all,
I'm contemplating the purchase of a new weather station, Ambient Weather WS-2000 (I believe it's a fine offset), but I'm not clear, after reading a bit on this forum, if it will work with my CumulusMX running on a Raspberry Pi.

Does anyone have one of these WS-2000 stations working with CumulusMX?

I had an old fine offset weather station from Ambient Weather (WS-2095) working with my CumulusMX Raspberry Pi, but it has recently died. I'd like to be able to afford a fancy Davis Pro, but that is too much for the budget.

Thanks in advance.

even though the answer may come late - A WS-2000/4000/5000 console (same piece, only different Ambient naming) can use its customized server posting to send data to CumulusMX which CMX can receive via its Ambient driver (Manufacturer: Ambient, Station: HTTP Sender) - which is a confusing naming as Ambient is a reseller company and not a manufacturer, but so be it ...
A larger article about CMX and its Fine Offset universe compatibility (Ambient is part of it) can be found at

Thanks for the reply.
I ended up getting an Ecowitt (strange name) HP2560 in a package with a WS69 sensor array. I've had it now for a couple of months and like it a lot. It took me a minute or two (maybe longer) to figure out how to make it talk to my CumulusMX running on a raspberry Pi, but it eventually worked. I had to get my head around the fact that CumulusMX doesn't go and get the data, the HP2560 sends it. I think that's a fair explanation?

Anyway, it's working now and seems to have a really solid connection between the sensor array and the console. So far so good.
