Having connection issues
Currently using a Data Logger with a Davis VP2.
VP2 is connected at 10.0.0.14. Raspberry pi connected at 10.0.0.18
I can see data from the VP2 at 10.0.14.
10.0.0.18 starts Cumulus, but no data is being uploaded
Station Settings > Davis Connection Settings show connection type of TCP/IP and IP address at 10.0.0.14.
Thoughts on what is going wrong? I'm not much of a troubleshooter unfortunately....

Re: Trouble connecting to VP2 IP Logger
Apologies for the late response. I have been trying to troubleshoot.
Attached is my latest mxdiags.txt file.
My VP2 is connected at 192.168.4.20
From reading through this, I THINK that the station is trying to connect to 192.168.4.26, when my VP2 is at 192.168.4.20.
Cumulus clearly shows 192.168.4.20 at TCP/IP settings under Davis VP/VP2/Vue -> Davis Connection Settings -> Connection Type
Is there something I am missing somewhere?

Re: Trouble connecting to VP2 IP Logger
The log file show MX is configured initially to connect to your VP2 on address 10.0.0.14
Did you change the IP address during that run of MX?
If so, you need to stop and restart MX for the setting to take effect.

Re: Trouble connecting to VP2 IP Logger
Thanks Mark,
I'm sure I turned the Pi off several times to reset with no luck, but tried again after seeing your post.
Checked my data this morning, then at 3am, data started coming through again.
I KNOW it wasn't 3am that I reset everything.
Anyway - all good now, so thanks all for the help.

Re: Trouble connecting to VP2 IP Logger
Hi,
If it is working that is good. However,
looking at your attachments it shows you are using a WiFiLogger. A Davis console/logger (any of the serial/USB or IP logger) can have only one device connected at the same time.
Are you using the WiFiLogger for CumulusMX and to also send to other locations such as Weatherlink.com? If so then you need to set the Disconnect settings in CumulusMX. This will allow more than one device access to the console/logger.
Also, the IP 192.168.4.1 which is an unsecure connection is intended for initial WiFiLogger setup only:
Enjoy,
Paul

How to start to using WiFiLogger?
First step to run WiFiLogger is to connect it to your Wi-Fi network. You need to turn WiFiLogger internal
none secure Wi-Fi network “WiFiLoggerSetup” (WiFiLogger will become an access point). Connect to this
network and setup your home network parameters SSID(name) and password. WiFiLogger will become part
of your home network and will reach access to the Internet.
White button – reset
Red button – setup
Yellow wire – eject tool, cotter, pull up to remove WiFiLogger from the console
1. Install it inside console like any other data logger:
1.1. Take the console nearby your router (same room).
1.2. Power off the console, remove battery.
1.3. Gently place WiFiLogger in an expansion port.
1.4. Power up the console.
1.5. Turn on the console using DONE button, while on screen is “RECEIVING FROM…”.
1.6. Press reset (white button) on WiFiLogger, when console is working.
2. Enable none secure access point network:
2.1. Wait 20 seconds for WiFiLogger to turn it on.
2.2. Press and keep touching red button(setup) for about 3 seconds. Blue led should blink to confirm
enabled of “SETUP MODE”.
2.3. Try to find a new network “WiFiLoggerSetup” with your smartphone or laptop. If you can’t find this
network, please repeat point 2.1 and keep touching button a little longer, but not more than 15
seconds.
2.4. Connect to “WiFiLoggerSetup” network.
2.5. While your device (smartphone/laptop) is connected to WiFiLogger’s network open web browser
and try to open url address “HTTP://192.168.4.1”
2.6. First web page of WiFiLogger web interface should appear. Please navigate to SETUP -> WiFi Setup
or open url address “HTTP://192.168.4.1/wifi.html”
2.7. Enable “AP Station”, place name of your network in “SSID:” field and password “Password:” field.
“AP” set to disable and “DHCP” to enable.
2.8. Please check if all fields are populated with proper data before pressing “SAVE”.
2.9. Press “SAVE” button and wait for web page to be reloaded. If reloading takes more than 10 seconds,
please reload it manually, or open url “HTTP://192.168.4.1/wifi.html” once more.
2.10. Below “SAVE” button there is a field named “Connection State:” please check if in this field text
“CONNECTED” will appear. If text will be “IDLE”, please repeat point 2.8, or restart WiFiLogger.
Restart will disable “SETUP MODE”, so you will have to go back to point 2.1.
WiFiLogger
manual WiFiLogger 2018
2.11. If information “CONNECTED” will appear, navigate to SETUP -> Network Info. Check and
remember/write it down IP number. Using this number you can have access from any computer at
home to WiFiLogger.
2.12. Press reset button to disable “SETUP MODE”.

Re: Trouble connecting to VP2 IP Logger
Thanks Paul,
Keeping my language simple here, as this is the way I understand it....
The VP2 logger sends the information (or Cumulus gets the information), then from Cumulus, I use FTP to upload the files to my site.
I don't fully understand how my site then uploads these files - I just followed the instructions on the template I am using, but there is some type of Cron job involved from there.
This bit unfortunately, I don't understand at all:

I am using CumulusMX as a 'conduit' to send information from my VP2 to my webpage. At least I think that is what I am doing. Are you using the WiFiLogger for CumulusMX and to also send to other locations such as Weatherlink.com?

But hey - if things are working, and I remember that sometimes my IP address will change, in which case I have to change it in Cumulus, then all is good. My limited knowledge of technology means following instructions, and if that doesn't work, cry out for help!!!Also, the IP 192.168.4.1 which is an unsecure connection is intended for initial WiFiLogger setup only
