Let's say I begin recording snow on every 1st of Oct and end recording on 31st of May, I have to manually put a "0" in some sort of a table when there is zero snow on ground. So if I want to have a correct graph I have to maintain it.
Same scaling: If you use a scale for snowdepth different to snowfall it is difficult to assess the conditions. For example when we have lets say 65 cm of snow on the ground one day and the next day after snowing 10 more cm we may have maybe 70 cm of settled snow on the ground but 10 cm of new snow. And if there are two different scalings for the same unit it is hard to understand visually.

But you are right - if it only snows 1 or 2 cm it will be hard to read. But - even here: the line of snow depth change might be hard to see, on the other hand you have a bar for this very day that indicates this "very little" snowfall.

OK, here's a chart (not all 24h values have been input!), that overlays the 24h value on top of the total depth and uses the same scale.

So, days where the accumulated depth is all in the last 24h only the 24h value shows because it is in front. If you hide that series, then you can see the depth column. The hover tooltip shows both values.

I know nothing on how-to charts and took some time today to use my most favourite tool - Excel. Using my records I created the attached for the month of January 2024, so when I saw your attachment for January I was blinded by not much snowfall in your chart compared to what was input in Diary. The February and March input must be complete as that looks like my records.

Great chart(s), thanks for these.

In hopeful anticipation of the snow depth data being automatically filled from the Echowitt LDS01, I would like to suggest an additional 24 hour chart.

The chart would show the snow depth each hour of the day beginning at the preset Snow Depth Hour, for 24 hours.

The chart would be reset every day at the Snow Depth hour, to start over for the new day.

Why would you reset the snow depth? The snow depth will be there. Or it will be a little more or a little less.

My suggestion is for an additional (2nd) chart to show the hourly snow data during a day.

The existing daily totals chart data would of course be preserved as it is.

Several years ago, there was a project using Weather Display and a modified Fluke Laser Distance meter which included charts to show the current snow depth (on the ground) by hour and another showing the snow fall for the past 24 hours. There was also a graph of the daily snow as we have here.

Since, my Fluke meter died, and I discontinued using WD. But I loved those charts. It was so interesting to watch the graph as the snow accumulated or melted by the hour.
