Error Reporting

Post by water01 »

Over the last few months there has been an increasing trend when reporting errors of people just cutting and pasting just what they think is the important part of the MXdiags .txt log file into their request for help. It can also make the Topic extremely long and difficult to read.

Please DO NOT do this as the error has usually happened way before that and the only to get help people to help is to post the ENTIRE relevant MXDiags .txt log file.

I realise that some people may not know how to do this, but it is very simple. Firstly zip the file using your favourite compression tool as this allows even the biggest 20MB log file to get around the file upload size restriction on this forum and allows speedier downloads for the investigators.

Once you have zipped the file look at the tabs underneath the posting area and you will see a TAB called Attachments. Click on that, and then click on add files. This should take you to a dialogue where you can select the compressed file and add it to the post. Then Submit your post as normal.

This will help our willing "support staff" diagnose your error and help you to solve it.

Please if you are new user or an old user who is asking for help, take note of the first post.

The Users who are here to help are not magicians, we need evidence of the problem you asking us to solve so the minimum you should supply with your request for support is a file from the MXDiags folder when the error occurred, otherwise we can be of no help to you.

DO NOT POST snippets of the log where you think the error occurred as it usually prior to the error occurring so we need the whole log. If it too big zip it up before you attach it.
