webcam battery or solar powered

Post by alexvanuxem »

Hi

I'm looking for a not costly wifi webcam, preferably with batteries or a solar panel (no power socket available)
that is easily can be configured within my websites.

https://sint-katelijne-waver-meteo.be/template/
https://sint-katelijne-waver-meteo.be/pwsWD/

or that meteobridge can capture the pic and send them through.

time-lapse feature is a plus.

Any ideas??

thx

Alex

Hi, I see you did not include CUtils in your links though it exists. If you wish to maintain that site you might consider the HP10 by Ecowitt. Ecowitt itself maintains time-lapse (7 days available). Cheap.

For other situations a simple configuration of a webcam image is available thus any webcam which is able to upload an image regularly can be used.

Webcam definitely is highly dependent of what you want: some want high resolution real-time streaming, some are satisfied with just an interval image of the sky/clouds. I'd say: keep it simple, it's just an image

@Alex: First make sure it is connected to Ecowitt.net then see the Wiki.
If you run into trouble, please post in the CUtils forum, I'll be back at the end of Monday.

@freddie: can you move this whole thread to the CUtils forum? Thanks.

Please note that in my website last night around 2h30 the meteocam started failing. It seems to be a javascript timing issue but I had no time to look into it. That will be addressed after the weekend but maybe other HP10 webcams do work.

Once linked to your ecowitt account - your cumulusutils.ini should look like this

Code: Select all

[MeteoCam]
CamType=EcowittHP10
MeteoCamMenu=true

Hi Hans

Offcourse I'm struggling. :-)

in meteocamrealtime.txt i put this: http://192.168.0.171/capture correct?

in cumulusutils.ini I put this :
[MeteoCam]
MeteoCamMenu=true
CamType=EcowittHP10
MeteoCamDir=wwwroot/Cutils/img/
TimelapseExtension=mp4
MeteoCamName=meteocam.jpg

correct?

In CMX extrawebfiles is the challange.
What do I need to upload to the wwwroot/Cutils/img/ directory?

meteocam.txt or meteocamrealtime.txt ? what do I need to tick?

and what is the output meteocam.jpg ?

I tried lots of combination, no image on the website.
what I ask in CMX extra webfiles is done, so a transfer of the file is done, in wwwroot/Cutils/img/ there's a meteocam.jpg file every minute.

thanks
