Lightning Strikes

Please DO NOT use this to publish your entire wish. This Forum is for specific suggestions to enhance the usability of Cumulus MX for all users, NOT your personal requirements. Please check this forum and the rejected forum to make sure you are NOT posting a DUPLICATE suggestion. It will be heavily monitored by Admin and Mark Crossley to determine the feasibility and the difficulty of the suggestion. Those Topics that are deemed inadmissible will moved to the rejected Forum. It is very easy to do it yourself. Just use the three webtags #LightningStrikesToday, #LightningDistance and #LightningTime format="hh:mmtt 'on' dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy". The last one formats the date so you get this

Lightning Strikes Today 0
Distance of last strike 21.1 miles Time of last strike 02:58AM on Sunday, September 08, 2024

May I ask you what lightning sensor you are using in combi with Davis VP2? I am interested to add such a sensor to my equipement.

My guess is he is using an Ecowitt one attached to his GW2000.

I use a froggit hp2500 system a ecowitt ecosystem with the hp56 lightning detector

Can I combine those Ecowitt / Froggit sensors to my existing Davis WLL? In other words, is it possible to receive data from Davis AND other systems?

I think if you use cumulusmx yes

Yes you can. You configure the Ecowitt under Extra Sensors. Cumulus then listens for data sent by the Ecowitt station, the send is configured under the stations Custom Server setting.

I have three stations

However the way I combine the data so I can see Lightning strikes is to use PWS Dashboard
