Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Download the Software (Cumulus MX / Cumulus 1 and other related items) from the Wiki

dotnet 8.0.5

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Post by AndyKF650 »

Just a quick note to say that the latest update of dotnet is available and works fine with my RPi running CMXv4 and CUtils.

I am not 100% sure, but I don't think it is not a requirement to update to all releases of Dotnet.
Unless CMX requires it (mentioned by Mark in release notes).

Well as I have the Microsoft repository enabled on my Linux system it updates automatically when I do that. If Microsoft put it in a repository then I think they expect it to be good and useable, however this is Microsoft we are talking about :groan:

It depends on the distro, mine on openSUSE from a terminal is 'zypper up (as root)' as it is Leap 15.5 which is not leading edge. There a multitude of commands each distro has its own ways of working.

And how do you enable the MS repository on Linux?

I am running a RPi with Debian 12 bookworm and the update process I use is as follows from the command prompt:-

Code: Select all

To update the dotnet installation.

First remove any existing .NET install:

	sudo rm -r /usr/share/dotnet

The install method installs the latest version, SDKs not needed or installed

	wget https://dot.net/v1/dotnet-install.sh
	chmod +x dotnet-install.sh
	sudo ./dotnet-install.sh -c LTS --install-dir /usr/share/dotnet --runtime dotnet

To test the install the following will show the version and other information

	dotnet --info

A final test from the terminal @CumulusMX will prove the installation.

	%cd /home/andyk/CumulusMX
	dotnet utils/bin/cumulusutils.dll website

Dotnet V8.0.5 installed on Windows 10 and all working well.

Not sure when this started to happen but on one of my Windows 10 systems .NET 8.0.5 was installed as part of Windows Update.

Seriously: if the bleeding edge of technology becomes the subject of threads on this forum, CumulusMX and the weather will 'snow under' and the transitIon to a pure tech forum is close. The version of dotnet is not so interesting (unless a major upgrade) and does not need attention. CMX and weather is and does.

Yet again missing the point. This is a FORUM where everybody is entitled to their views and do NOT have to conform to the "Law of HansR"!!
