Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Climate forum

Post by HansR »

Maybe it is a good idea to have a forum on climate (change) beside the forum for the weather.
Give the ever longer series of the users (10+ years is not uncommon these days) we may start to see evidence.

Let's see if the average CMX user can make a difference and what data they have.
Prepare to move posts between the weather and the climate forum ;)

While climate change is interesting I see on other weather forums where it is discussed it gets bogged down in whether or not it is fact or fiction, mostly from users in the USA, and I find it difficult to restrain my self from commenting in support of fact! It does seem a very controversial topic!

Well, that is interesting and I am willing to be moderator of the by me suggested forum.
Controversy is in your mind, the forum would / should be about measurements (see my latest post in the Weather forum - which actually inspired this request). Where did that post go btw? I'll post again... found it... :D

Is 15 years of data enough to confirm climate change is happening? I’ll upload a histogram later showing the average temperature for my station for each of those years. Not sure it will confirm anything of note.

But I would like to see more discussion about weather / climate. Currently 98% of posts are about software issues.

My May rainfall rate record was broken on Sunday evening. Torrential downpour for a few minutes was enough. For those of you watching the Manchester United v Arsenal match you may have seen the water cascading off the leaky roof. Theatre of Streams!
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

No.

Save yourself the trouble and pollution of this thread. This is a request for a forum not the place to start discussions on the subject of that forum.

Good, I take that as a plus for the requested forum.

Don't you think that is bit rude, since you did ask for feedback.

If this is the type of discussion you want to encourage count me out!!

Given my first post I don't get your point.
This is the forum feedback forum and I did not ask for direct climate discussion here.

And I am Dutch so I may be slightly more direct (you would call it rude) than the British.
Cultural difference I guess, so far it did no harm.

Point taken. Given English isn’t your first language I’ll forget the somewhat undiplomatic reply.
Cheers,

@freddie: does the no-response mean you are thinking about it or that you choose to ignore it?

Thanks, tomorrow I'm not available so Sunday is good as well.

When creating the forum, could you move this thread and this thread to the new forum making those the first threads on climate?
