How to start CumulusMX with dotnet in linux

From Cumulus MX version 3 build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since, and has recently released Cumulus MX version 4. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Program settings > General settings > tick Stop second Instance will stop you doing this accidently.

Yes that showed 2 instances , so I stopped cumulusmx in the console from where I started it earlier, and running the same command again , it didn't show any instances.
So how does it actually work from a service. Do I have to do anything apart from waiting to see if cumulusmx starts up.

Thanks

I waited about 5 or 6 minutes and nothing happened, so I started CumulusMX from a console.

How long did you have to wait and what happened, ie how did it work.
Thanks

I GIVE UP! After hours and hours of frustration, I'm going to stay with the trouble-free V3. I have a RPi 3B+ and have followed the instructions religiously. Still a big failure. I am not a software person and am reluctant to ask questions which may sound ridiculous to those that have mastered this technology. My biggest issues are getting CululusMX v4 to do an unattended, boot-into-service after a power failure. Also, my old installation has PiHole coexisting on this RPi, happily without issue. Although I will surely miss-out on some exciting future upgrades, I will just stay with V3. IT WORKS.

Waiting doesn't work - you either have to reboot or issue the command systemctl start cumulusmx.service.

It sounds like you've had a number of issues. You don't need to be a software person to make it work. We have what we think is a reasonable set of instructions to assist with upgrading, and they have worked for quite a few people. If you could possibly give some feedback on the bits that didn't work for you then maybe we can improve them for the next person to try them?

I tried the command systemctl start cumulusmx.service, but it didn't start or run cumulusmx in a web browser.
Is it supposed to do.
thanks

No it does not run in the browser. CMX runs on your linux/unix machine.
To access it you have to go to your browser and enter http://<ip-address of your CMX machine>:8998

Aah, I see. I didn't know that before, hence my asking.

Thanks
