From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

WXSim and CumulusMX V4 public beta. Please read.

As Mark has explained in his thread there are a number of major changes to CumulusMX V4 and this affects WXSim and its associated programs.

In support of these changes Tom Ehrensperger has created an update for WXSim to support CumulusMX V4 along side the existing V3 support. This means that it can be installed prior to the CumulusMX upgrade and the basic functionality tested on V3.

I have done quite a lot of testing of this update for the past 4 weeks with CumulusMX V4 and so far it now seems to work fine for me. I have also run this with V3 log files again with no issues, but as we all know with one test environment it is always possible to miss something.

Tom has asked me to pass on his update to anyone who wishes to participate in the public beta so if that is you please contact me via PM giving me an email address which I can use to send you a copy of the update and some details on what to do when V4 is then installed. I have agreed with Tom to pass on details of the folks who volunteer for this so he will be aware if you need to contact him directly so please let me know if you are happy for me to do this in your PM.

At this stage I would like to have a test initially with a few users to trial this code with V3 and also V4 as soon as possible afterwards. We can then
extends the test to anyone who needs it.

Slight change of plan with the WXSim new beta release. Tom has decided to release it publicly and it can be found at https://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/n ... on/73447/1. So please use that to download it. If you want any advice please feel free to ask here or of course you can contact Tom directly.

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for all the testing and assistance.

I have now upgraded to CumulusMX Version 4 Beta.

Also upgraded to New WXSIM Versions :
WXSIM 2024 Build 1.0 Beta. (including WRET)
WXSIMATE version 9.2 Beta.
WXSIM-Lite version 2.8 Beta.

Note : No changes required for Auto-Learn (AutoLearn-WX).

Small issue with Span Days looking back to last year in WXSIM-Lite, reduced from 90 to 80 days until a fix is found.
Cause was issue with the new YYYYMMlog.txt format.

Also added issue on Toms main post : https://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/n ... on/73447/6

Oh and Big Shout-out to Mark Crossley for the CumulusMX V4 Beta, brilliant. @mcrossley

I go under the knife on 11 April and will be out of action for a month, so was a tad hesitant to make the change before hand, though extremely happy so far.

Kindest Regards,
Tony Beaumaris, Tasmania (AUS)
