Recent posts about the excessive rain this year and my experiments with the recent CustomLogs (webtag charting) gave me the idea for a new chart under the graphs Miscellaneous menu item (the climatic charts). It will be available in the coming 6.22 version (not sure yet when)

I like that,
I had put that chart into my custom logs so it is only showing up for less than a month. Having it for multiple years it will show just how the interaction of sun and rain play out.

I haven't gotten into the customlogs so will need to do some catch up. I've often wondered on the correlation of ET and sunshine. Would it be possible to add sunshine?

@hans have you considered a plot of (rainfall - ET) against time? That shows you the deficit/surplus nicely.

Hi Paul, I could add sunshine in that chart but I won't because a correlation is pretty evident and for this 'climate' chart it would be too much. I think the ChartsCompiler, ExtraSensors en now the CustomsLogs (specifically) in combination with the output specifier and the menus, you have all degrees of freedom you want.
ET and Sunshine(hrs) in the same chart is possible. If you want, just specify a chart, what you want to see and where you want to show it and I will help you there if you have problems.
Yes I get your point. I'll add it.
I will also add verticals of 1 April to 1 October. These dates are in the Netherlands the boundaries for drought levels. Outside those dates agriculture is no longer interested in drought.
What you are actually asking is the area when ET is above the rain line. I thought about colouring that area - red hatched lines - in some way but I am not sure yet. I do not want to overdo the chart. I will not plot the difference explicitly as it is already in the chart itself.

OK, This is the second version. The coloured ares are implemented as arearanges so the two separate series are no longer really visible so it is the tooltip supplying the detail1. I think this is it, I only think about an even much lighter colour of green. This seems a bit dominant.
I started out this chart being in the miscellaneous menu, I'll give it its final place in the Rain graphs menu where I think it is more relevant.
[1]: The arearange doesn't make life easier and I skipped the intersection calculations if the lines cross somewhere between two days. In this case not so very important I think. Btw... zooming in and out goes by the scroll of the mouse wheel. Did you know?

I thought you would be interested

But first you need to get your CUtils site running again: apparently you did restore a backup and with that the realtime location got lost again and you're back at the mixed content problem. That needs to be solved first. Than you can update and have the chart.
And indeed I'am curious what the chart says in your area!
[EDIT] But you always must remember EVT is derivative. It is not a true measurement like rain.

and really EVT should be customised to the crop type, the MX calculation uses the "default" grass crop type.

Indeed... could be parametrized either in the equation or by different EVT types (different equations)

And probably also to climate zone : in arid zones the vegetation has anatomical strategies to prevent transpiration and keep the water inside (e.g. the stomata). In polar regions it is probably only evaporation from ice and snow directly into water vapour.
I'm not asking but if there is a scientist who is able to give distinctive, proven formulas you might give it a try
