Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I was wondering if it is possible to fill in missing data in CMX from ecowitt downloads or merge data?
This is for data predating the api capability and also for the odd gap I have noticed where I have ended up with multiple bits of a month but not one whole one
I have seen the file descriptions here https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/Standard_log_files, not found te ecowitt mapping yet but is there already a utilitu somewhere that does this or is it just using the built in editor to fill the gaps?
Plus if the CMX Files are simply text files I assume that I should not go near them with a spreadsheet application? Anyone recommed a txt editor - I use Notepad++, is that best?
I want to ease the pain.....
Thanks

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)
Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024
Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Re: Filling in the blanks
You're best off using the dashboard data log editors rather than hacking around the txt files.

Re: Filling in the blanks
I agree if we talk about a small(er) number of records.
But when we are talking about months or even years of minute or 5-minute resolution data, then that's far from convenient.
It comes easily close to slavery work.
Anyhow, the data logging files YYYYMMlog.txt and ExtraLogYYYYMM.txt before the current month are not permanently updated by CMX anymore so they can safely be edited, created etc. in Notepad++.
Of course you should be aware of the structure (see description of header files for the CSV records) and know what you add in which sequence, use the proper date/time stamp and delimiter (comma or semicolon) and decimal point (point or comma) congruent to how your CMX does based on your locale settings.
And do not forget to run the CreateMissing tool (see WiKi) after the logging files updated to get the dayfile (dayfile.txt) also updated.
