Summer storm Poly hits the north of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Wind Bf 11 for an hour at IJmuiden.

That's the weather that gave us 23mm of rain overnight.

Well what a difference 150miles south of Broadstairs makes. We had some wind max 17 mph and a little rain 4.2mm.

It's a very narrow band of wind with a width of roughly 150 km, rain maybe 200 km.
While in UK it was gaining strength, now it has entered NL it is already losing strength.
Very limited, but high damage impact and one death.
Currently scaled down to orange and below. Here it reached Bf 6 only so far.

Now, to finish the story I have made a 10 minute - take your time  - boring video of this small depression passing just north of me. It really was a nice spectacle rarely seen from start to finish during the day and certainly not in July. You can see the video here or see it on my site (Menu: Overig=>MeteoCam). The corresponding chart for the 5th of July is below.

I say 'boring video' as some people may think it boring but from a meteorological viewpoint I thought it really was an interesting day.

      Noteworthy:
      1. Build-up and passing of first front 7h30 - 12h30 (first temperature and pressure drop)
      2. Passing of the eye of the depression 12h30 - 14h00 (see also the sun peak in chart below, temp and pressure rise)
      3. Passing of the second front (tail) 14h00 - 18h00 (second temperature drop and 7 mm of rain)
      4. The end and calming down 18h00 - The End
      5. We reached a consistent wind Bf 6 (I had expected more) around 12h30 but it were the gusts which did it.
The real storm was when it landed on the west coast (Bf 11 for a small hour).
