Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Comparing MX WLL wind speeds with weatherlink.com

Post by mcrossley »

Just so you are aware, [by default] CMX will always show a 10-minute gust and average wind speed for your WLL.

WeatherLink .com on the other hand...

For the historic data the gust and average speed is the maximum gust and the average over the archive interval. So that could be anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes.

For the Bulletin page, the average speed is a 1 minute average - I do not know for sure but I'm assuming the gust is the same.

So direct comparison of the values between CMX (or any other software) and wl.com is nigh on impossible. And for me with 5 minute logging on wl.com this makes the wind data there pretty useless, you can get the max gust value, but average speeds are meaningless.
