Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024

(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)

Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024

Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

When reporting an observation please attach CutilsMenu.def (with .txt extension)) and the logfile.

Hi Hans

I just started looking at the new beta and have a couple of comments
1 The menu line across the website now looks very cluttered, why are the big black dots present?
2 Is the only way to get the menu to change is by running....website?
3 I have tried to put AndykUserReport .txt file into the Reports tab heading but whilst it is in the index no report is loaded when the report is selected. The report does exist and is in the old style menu UserReports.

As requested the logfile and .def file are attached.

Hi Hans

Just done another test and despite the suggestion in the wiki a report only needs to have its title and not the .txt extension. I looked at the right mouse inspect element and found that the extension for the report that failed was .txt.txt seems like the extension is prepopulated.

Sorry this request is a bit off topic.

Andy,
you are using almost the same beteljuice Yadr inside CumulusUtils as I do, but your version looks much better.
Could I please have a copy of your css-file(s)?

Regards
Steinar

Hi Hans

Next test, add a new heading and sub lines to the System 2 menu. This works ok, I probably need to refine the DavisConsole link, but i am off now.

I currently have a major internet disruption and have only limited 4G which I only use when really needed.
If support is right that will take until Tuesday next week

Hi Hans

Sorry to hear of your internet woes, so you just throw a new menu system to us all and wait for a few days :)

I have fully utilised the system 2 menu on my site and all looks clean and tidy now. It did take an hour or so to work through the old menu file and reset it into the CUtilsMenu.def as attached.

One comment is that all the logos I was using in the old system appear to be not available in the new.

We make progress again

Hi All,

My internet problem concerned the modem and fortunately with some pressure could be resolved within 6 hours. Pfff...

Your files do not represent the cluttered menu. Could be interesting to know what you saw and what caused it.
AndyKF650 wrote: Thu 20 Oct 2022 8:31 am 2 Is the only way to get the menu to change is by running....website?
For the time being: yes. It is not an independent module and is definitely only for the website.
I may think of an independent generation and then have it included in the website like the old usermenu.
But that is not for now.

It probably has to do with the .txt extension which you attached (see your next post).
I'll check the wiki (which btw by now already has some additions related to beta 2 already in preparation. That may be confusing.
My bad, surpassing what you guys are doing ;)

OK, If you need menu lines different from what I propose let me know. No guarantee but I'll look at those.

That sounds good.
Let me know what you need for the logo's give me an example of how you do that now)

Hi Hans

I am glad you are up and running so soon. With apologies for my repeated messages this morning as I was learning the new menu file.

Unfortunately my site is now fully up with the system 2 menu so you cannot see the big black dots I was referring to. They dissappear when the full menu file is used and I cannot quickly find someone else with the new patch file to highlight the issue.

With reference to the logos the best I can do is attach the old menu file from which you will see for example the PWS weather link is represented by the following code which details the img id and location for its logo.

<a class='nav-link' href="https://www.pwsweather.com/station/pws/grouville1" target="_blank"><img id="PWS weather" <img src="/Generalicons/PWS logo.jpg";></a>

I will leave it to you to work out if the new system will support the logo since the html code is firmly in the background and is not user accessible.

OK, thanks for those comments. beta 2 is already in preparation, including some improved errorhandling.

I'll see what I can do with a logo link, but I assume this is an error:

Code: Select all

<img id="PWS weather" <img src="/Generalicons/PWS logo.jpg";>
and should be

Code: Select all

<img src="/Generalicons/PWS logo.jpg";>

Hi Hans
First remarks:
New temporary menu visible in my Reports menu. With the option Internal I think it should be scrolling="no" example in the menu Reports BetelYadr.
In mode Report everything works perfectly.
CutilsMenu.zip
Best regards

@Patrick: I am not sure about the beteljuice YADR with no scrolling. For beta 2 I won't take action on this yet, I'll think about it and see if I can combine it with the parameter UseScrollableTables. But if I understand it well the scrolling="no" Iframe parameter has been taken out of the spec of HTML5 so I have to look deeper into this to see how I can accomplish it.

I like your use of the OUTPUT specifier of the compiler and adding those charts to the Graphs menu. For beta 2 will add a separator between the standard and the user charts.

The Wiki should tell you how to do things.
I think beta 2 is better.
