So, apart from a little high cloud this morning, the skies were clear enough to give the perfect solar values. However, it is nowhere near the theoretical value. There a was 150 wm2 difference at one point. The settings are all default.

Re: Theoretical Solar
There was an elevated dust layer today,. The troposphere was deeper than average, and consequently the stratosphere was thinner than average. This increases the opacity of the atmosphere WRT visible light (but the shallower stratosphere decreases opacity WRT UV).

Re: Theoretical Solar
My solar values on Friday were down from expected as well. Though there was a high altitude haze visible here.
It's very rare to get really clear skies anymore, the last time I saw them here in the NW was the weeks after 11 September 2001, and May 2011 (Eyjafjallajökull) where we seemed to get quite a few days with no visible dust and no planes. Those aircraft chuck out some stuff at altitude
