I've been given a VP2 with logger which appears to be working well with Cumulus MX (two months now). Looking at some of the settings, the firmware is 1.7. I believe the latest is 3.3.
Anyone know if there is any major advantage of updating firmware, and if update fails, can I "roll back" to 1.7?
The console year of manufacture is 2009 and logger is also 2009 era (the latter I believe is a different spec to the current models.)
Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024
(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)
Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024
Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Re: Upgrading VP2 Firmware
Worth checking this with Davis themselves since your firmware is very old.
or pm John (aka prodata) he may know.

Thanks Simon
I'm in two minds to be honest so will ]probably take your advice. At the moment it is working and I am satisfied with the data, so it could be a case of if its not broke, don't fix it.

Re: Upgrading VP2 Firmware
If you are happy with the status quo then always best to leave it as is. Don't be tempted by very minor feature changes. F/W upgrades usually do work OK, but if something serious goes wrong with the update attempt then resurrecting the console can be a total PITA.
