Life Expectancy of a Davis VP2 Sensors

Post by SJG1976 »

What is the expected life of a Temp/Humidity sensor on the Davis VP2.

I think I'm not starting to get to the stage where the components are starting to fail.

Have replaced the Speed Cartridge.
That's now working well....

Now a few months later and the Humidity Sensor keeps dropping to a 0 Reading or reading in the low 20s when it should be in the mid 80.

Temp sensor is fine. Or appears it so far.

It was a Davis 6162 all installed in 2016 also with a Daytime Radiation Fan.

So is 6 years about average, and can I expect any other to start failing in the near future as well.

I don't think it's bad going?

I've had my vp2 for 15 years and am on my third temp/hum sensor. So I guess 5 years on average, which makes me due for a replacement soon. Having said that, I had my original sensor 6 years, the next one lasted 3 years, and the current one I have had 6 years. So fairly variable lifetime.

Just hope ProData has some in Stock.
aWEKAS has just sent me the Email saying it's been disabled due to bad data being sent.

So seems like I've done well with 6 years then. :)

Looks like it's working again for a while.

It's very odd.
Just looking at the Historic it seems like it was doing the opposite of what was actually going on..
