Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024
(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)
Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024
Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Got a low battery warning on the CMX console/home page. Checked the Vantage Vue console - no warning. Changed the ISS battery anyway and the low battery warning reappeared today - yet the Vantage Vue console shows nothing. What am I missing - seems CMX thinks its low and the Vue console does not!

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Is it a (dot) Battery low message or (dot)?
(dot) means you have the alarm settings to show the alarm warning on the dashboard page, and (dot) means CumulusMX is passing on an alarm message and which will flash when triggered.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Have you checked the log, the low battery alarm can be triggered either by a transmitter battery low (that is just an OK/Low flag), or by the console batteries which report an actual voltage. CMX uses a cut off voltage of 5.4V to determine the low condition*, the console may use a lower voltage threshold.
*I chose 5.4V as that is 1.35V per cell, and leaves a fair reserve for backup power. You do not want the console batteries to run too low when you have a logger installed as they will then not have a very long run-time in the event of a power failure.
EDIT: Sorry, the 5.4V is for the WLL not the VP2/Vue. The VP2/Vue uses 3.5V.

Okay, back this morning (flashing red dot). I assume this will be logged is in the MXDiags file? A quick look in there did not show anything.

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
I just checked the code - and the Davis battery status does not log anything
You could check the current console voltage and transmitter states via the call...

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Hmm, maybe switch on data logging, then as soon as you get the next alarm - note the time, and post the MXidags log please. I can take a look at the raw data from the station and see what is triggering it.
You can do the check above at the same time.

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Lets see if this helps. About 7:45am the alarm was going off (red blink). Just looked now and it off (9:50). Data logging was enabled.

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
Ah, you are using Ecowitt extra sensors, it looks like the soil sensor dropped to 1.2V at 08:47. That would trigger the battery alarm.
I think I should add some logging to alarms being triggered!

Re: Low Battery Warning - Cumulus Console
With b3194 this has reappeared - low battery alarm triggered intermittently.
