Report Spam Button

Post by HansR »

Hi, I noticed as from today that there is added a Report Spam Button to the posts which are not mine. I have never seen this before.
  1. Could you explain what that button will be doing?
  2. Does it send the post immediately into the black hole or is it just drawing attention to the moderator?
  3. And how is the moderator notified?
  4. Is he notified or is he required to check every day?

It sends a notification to Admin that someone has seen some Spam and they are reporting it.

It is then up to Admin to assess it and deal with it and the user that posted it.

We do not get much Spam as new users are checked against the Stop Forum Spam database and not allowed to post if they are detected.

Doh! I just clicked the button on Hans post above - it just reported it straight away! Maybe a confirmation dialog would be better?

PS: I deleted the spam report.

There are two ways to report posts on this forum:
1. The "Report" link - which highlights the post to forum administrators to deal with.
2. The "Report to Stop Forum Spam" link - which does exactly what it says on the tin.

As @water01 says - we use "Stop Forum Spam" checks on new users registering which works really well, as we see virtually no spam on this forum. I receive far more spam through the "Contact a Board Administrator" page - but my email server filters the majority of that out :)

Or me.

I tried in an incognito tab so that no caching was used, but still no report buttons to be seen.

Perhaps it's just something that appears to moderators and admins?

That might very well be possible as I only see it in my CUtils forum
