Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
I have owned and run a Davis Vantage Pro2 for 14 years, and I am very happy with its performance and accuracy. With the release of MX v3.12.0 and the addition of the "HTTP" weather stations in addition to your existing main station, I would like to explore adding some additional sensors, so would like some advice as I'm a complete newbie regarding non-Davis kit.
Initially I would like to add just two sensors - a soil depth temperature sensor and a grass temperature sensor. Could somebody who is more familiar with sensors that can use the GW1000 please advise on manufacturers, models, etc, that I should be looking at?
Many thanks.

The Soil Temp sensor seems a bit on hold. Been about in discussion for a while.

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
OK I will ask the silly question. With the advent of the HTTP connection in CumulusMX would a console like this work?
https://www.amazon.co.uk/sainlogic-FT03 ... B081F1VTYT
and Amazon seems to be now selling a brand called Youshiko that seems to be somewhat similar.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Youshiko-Clear ... rs&sr=1-12
It has very good reviews and will run up to 7 additional sensors.
By the way that table at WXForum looks to need updating in the light of CumulusMX new features.

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
Very useful post, thank you. So after reading most of it, I am looking at purchasing a GW1100 using 868 MHz, and a couple of WH31EPs. Does that sound about right?

Also, what is the difference between GW1000, GW1004 and GW1100? Apart from price, that is

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
HI freddie,
Yes that sounds good. I only have the WH41 PM2.5 AQ and the WH51 soil moisture sensors and these show in the CMX Extra sensors table, and the other sensors should do the same.
I believe the GW1000 is the original gateway unit (I have 2 of them from early testing in 2018) and the GW1100 is a recent upgrade.
The GW1004 seems to be the gateway PLUS a temp sensor.
So far using these Ecowitt extra sensors with CMX Davis station type show only in the localhost:8998 dashboard under Extra sensors, and logged in \data as Extralogyyyyymm.txt and nothing FTP.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
Thanks Paul.
Do you know what was upgraded between GW1000 and GW1100? I'm trying to assess whether it is worth waiting for the GW1100 which is out of stock, or to just get the GW1000 anyway. Thanks for clarification of the GW1004.PaulMy wrote: ↑Fri 30 Jul 2021 1:41 pm HI freddie,

I think you may have to add web tags for the extra sensors to a file and upload in extra files in order to get any extra sensor data FTP'd.

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
Hi freddie,
I haven't followed it closely but lots of discussion on WXforum -
https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?board=111.0
https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic ... #msg433148
I believe the main difference is that the GW1100 has some easier WiFi connection/setup. I presume the GW1000 will do what you want for now.
Re extra sensor webtags I had a quick look at the new Web Tags list that CMX can save at startup but didn't see anything specific to my PM2.5 and Soil moisture sensors. I will have a further look.
Enjoy,
Paul

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
@gyvate and @galfert are the experts on this stuff. The WN34 soil sensor is out with some people for testing - data from them was in the v3.12.0 beta
I think all the extra sensor data is available as web tags, so you could use Extra Files, or a custom SQL insert to get the data out of Cumulus.

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
There was very little sign of any updates on the WH34 a day or so ago, but I now see it on their site this morning.
https://www.ecowitt.com/shop/goodsPage/1/65
Image does look distorted compared to what's shown on wxforums & they've mucked up the description.
Referring to it as water temp & yet that device is also listed, but with a bad link.
Cheers
Edit:- And Gyvate on WX already has it listed along with a WH34 Leaf Moisture sensor.

Re: Advice regarding sensors for GW1000
GW1000 is a gateway
GW1004 it's a a GW1000 sold with a WH31
GW1100 is a GW1000 with different firmware. While GW1000 setup is made using an app, the GW1100 has a webserver that you can use for setup.
