Rainfall total carried forward into new year

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Rainfall total carried forward into new year

Post by Peasantmk2 »

Hello,

Towards the end of last year I made the move from v1 to MX, and I've been getting along fine. I didn't have Cumulus MX running over the New Year, and when I did start it up it 'brought forward' the yearly total for rainfall into 2021. I've attached a screenshot to show what I mean.

I'm pretty sure I need to edit the dayfile.txt to correct this, but wanted to make sure before I did anything.

Both the station and Cumulus are set as January being the start of the rain year. I'm on build 3096.
Thanks.

Jim, could you post your MXdiags file for the first run after New Year?

Correcting this may mean editing your dayfile and some of the ini files.

Here you go. There were two for the same day, so I have uploaded them both. This has made me wonder. I have two network cards in this computer, and I may have run Cumulus when the wrong card was active. Could that have contributed to the confusion?

Ah, you have fallen victim to the same bug in the annual rollover that another user hit.

You restarted Cumulus on the same day that the rainfall counter reset to zero. This bug is fixed in the v3.9.4 release.

OK, so if I upgrade will it fix itself, or do I still have to change things? Thanks.

Hi
I seem to have the same problem but can not edit any of the log files - I just a 404 error or a table error.

Hi
Here's some screenshots - one showing it carrying over last years rainfall total - how can I reset this to zero?
Second screenshot shows that it suddenly added this in to the daily total but not until 17/01 . . .
I will update the software sometime . . .

OK, I have upgraded to the new version (3100), but haven't started it up yet. The reason is that I was following the instructions in the wiki about updating to a new version. I have not made any customisations, so renamed my current Cumulus folder, (now called Cumulus_old) and unzipped the new version into a new CumulusMX folder. I copied over the Cumulus.ini file from Cumulus_old to CumulusMX, but I cannot find string.ini in either Cumulus_old or CumulusMX.
I then copied the contents of my data folder in Cumulus_old to the data folder in CumulusMX. I copied the contents of Reports similarly.

Is that all I need to do?

When I last used 3096, my yearly total rainfall is now doubling up every time I start. Is there any changes I need to make to the data files when I do start it up? Thank you for your help so far.

Hi
Still unable to edit my log files - I have edited the monthly and annual records but the error remains - 478.9mm of rain on 17/01/21
I have tried to edit the log files in the MX editor but get error readings - see attached.
It won't let me delete or change the log values.
