Decimal separator

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Decimal separator

Post by Tigro11 »

hi guys, I would like the noaa to have the point as decimal separator as in the realtime.txt file.
If I change the properties of windows as a separator symbol I put a period, when I go to regenerate the noaa I don't see anything.
Maybe there is an entry where you can enter the type of separator symbol to use.
Thanks

The NOAA reports take whatever decimal separator that your locale uses, that cannot be changed.

You cannot just switch locale and run Cumulus MX again, you would have to edit all your data files and change the decimal separator and list separator in those as well.

ok, but I don't understand why on realtime.txt it uses the point while on noaa it uses the comma

Realtime.txt is designed to be read by computers so always uses a dot decimal, the NOAA reports are designed to be read by humans so use your locale separator.

however I don't understand why both graphweather and WeatherLink save the file noaa with the dot as a separator without changing the windows settings.
if on windows I change the decimal separator then with other programs it is very confusing.
If possible maybe with future updates, have the possibility to insert the period as a separator without touching the windows settings.

thank you for including the possibility to set the point on NOAA reports,
I notice however that the monthly part doesn't work well.
I am attaching the report
