New Ecowitt Station!

Post by TonyG »

Having asked for, and received, advice about a replacement for my old WH1080 I'm happy to say that I've just received my GW1001 Wi-Fi Weather Station with an optional lightning detector module! Exciting!! Looks well made and I've had no trouble connecting it to a fresh install of CumulusMX running on a very old, Windows 10 (32 bit!) Lenovo T60 laptop. Since I only use the laptop as a media player and it's on 24/7 it just seemed easier than the raspberry pi that I was using. Just waiting for a 3 meter mast to arrive at my local Screwfix and I can get the external sensors up.
Any hints or tips to get the best out of this set up gratefully received!

It was bought direct from Ecowitt in China. If you contact them by email or by their facebook page they will give you the current price including shipping. They seem to have an online shop now though so maybe that's no longer necessary. They also supply different frequencies depending on your country. Mines 868mhz.

Hi Tony,
if you are looking for Cumulus independent information on Fine Offset clone weather stations, consoles, sensors ...
have a look at https://www.wxforum.net/index.php?topic=40730.0 and the related forum section.
It's the most comprehensive site I know for this topic - and many users from there are also users here when they use Cumulus with their Ecowitt, Froggit, .... stations.
