Cumulus and WeatherLink
Hi everyone,
I have got a Vantage Pro2
Is it possible to run at the same time with the same logger on serial mode Cumulus and WeatherLink? Or is there any way to get both running with one WeatherLink logger ?
If I am running Cumulus doesn’t let me run WeatherLink so I cannot use their nice app. And if I run WeatherLink I cannot run cumulus at same time, any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
There's a utility called VirtualVP. If you Google you should find it. Unfortunately it is no longer supported. Also, it doesn't support the LOOP2 dala packet so you will need to put a setting in your Cumulus.ini file (search the Wiki for details) to prevent Cumulus (1 or MX) from requesting it.

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
UseDavisLoop2=0 is the setting. It goes in the [Station] section.
VirtualVP used to cost something (I paid for mine) but it has been free since it has been unsupported - about 6 years, I think.

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
Ok so I downloaded virtualvp and enter my serial details and then what should I do? First launch cumulus, WeatherLink or virtual vp? What settings do I need to enter on virtual vp to set it up for serial use?
If I put com3 on virtualvp and WeatherLink doesn’t let me says already in use..
Excuse my ignorance

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
You should read the help pages that come with VirtualVP.
VirtualVP is basically a proxy to your weather station. VirtualVP is connected via serial to your weather station. Your software (weatherlink, cumulus) then connects to VirtualVP which will pass on the station's data to your software. You can have weatherlink and Cumulus connecting to VirtualVP simultaneously. The connections can be either serial or TCP/IP. I think you can have about 8 simultaneous connections. The serial connections use virtual serial ports created by VirtualVP.
VirtualVP must be running before you start up Cumulus/weatherlink, etc.
HTH.

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
Nice one I can't think of an advantage to using serial - but I can with TCP/IP in that you can have Cumulus running on a separate computer to VirtualVP.

Re: Cumulus and WeatherLink
Been using virtual vp for ages with no issues. I did see one program which is also supposed to do the same but lost the link annoyingly.
TCP/ip seems a neater solution though although I never moved over to it.
