The Spanish version being the last version for the moment - not having heard anything from the only Italian on the map.
Thank you all for testing and bringing in the translations just a few days after finishing the translation system.

It really was a kick to see the app being translated without a problem (well one minor issue with a single quote) with all those fantastic non-latin characters.
Waiting now for Russian, Arabic and Egyptian translations ;)
Is there a meteo station in the Moroccan Atlas?

Some more additions and maybe corrections no doubt will arrive to maintain and improve quality. Thanks for Patrick for the suggestion if the Arrows (and maybe other symbols to be used iso texts. I liked that interpretation of shorter menu's.

I would like to finish with a note on the locales. One of the main issues was, and I believe still is, that CumulusMX is not working well with some locales (I am sure of some failing Slavic locales), but what CumulusUtils has proven is, that it is very well possible to run CMX on a en-GB locale with CumulusUtils beside it to hide the whole English background and have a display layer in local taste (although it does not do dialects).

It's hard to believe I first released the website generator only on 6th of April and it took me just two weeks.
OK. Thanks again and Enjoy the app. Improvements of minor glitches are on the way.

Cheers, Hans

With the new version (3.5.6) everything works fine, including the translation (as soon as I finish editing, I will update the Spanish file)¨

As some of you may notice, several messages of communication between kocher and myself have disappeared. That is because we talked about an editor causing a problem with the saving of UTF8 encoding, making it impossible to complete the Spanish translation and causing confusion. Javier and myself managed to solve the issue and Javier finished the translation (see the original Spanish translation message above). We decided to remove the communication on how to solve the issue.

The important things here are:
  1. the Spanish translation is complete;
  2. if you ever encounter an error in the UTF8 translation file, use notepad, copy the translation in it and do a save as using UTF8 as encoding.

2. if you ever encounter an error in the UTF8 translation file, use notepad, copy the translation in it and do a save as using UTF8 as encoding.
The important issue is to use an editor that supports and recognize character encoding, ex UTF-8.
Notepad++ is one choice for Windows users.
There are many other editors for other OS, free or more advanced.

I think some strings are missing.

If I'm not mistaken, the pwsFWI table header is shown only in English.

Otherwise great work Hans and all the translators especially Kocher

Greetings MeteoSangonera and thank you very much for your praise.

You're right, the head of the FWI table looks in English.
For now the only values that can be translated in FWI are the following:

Code: Select all

[pwsFWI]
Legend=Leyenda
Low=Bajo
VeryHigh=Muy Alto
Moderate=Moderado
Extreme=Extremo
High=Alto
PredictionMessage=La predicción está activa (incluyendo hoy!), los valores están por encima de la línea roja.
The solution will come from the hand of Hans, so I am sure that it will come :D :D :D

Yes, with the next release all reported missing strings will be in it and can be found at the end of the section in which they occur.
Currently in the middle of working on an addition, so give it some time. 8-)

Currently I have added the pwsFWI headers, Latitude, Longitude and Altitude (why did nobody report that :?: ), 24hrs above and below the horizon.
It is surprising how many string one can miss once you are used to looking at a screen.
Anyway, keep reporting, still some time to the next release.

@sutne:
The Hi and Avg in Yadr are fixed.

Changes in the translation of the gauges however need to be communicated with Mark Crossley as the gauges have their own translation system and their own language file. I just borrow from there. The code I did adjust, but not the language.

OK, I'll take up this translation in the distribution. Be careful with that file btw, because it contains all languages (no separate files) so don't add strings, just correct and save carefully. I will do some checks but It is quite easy to destroy the translation for all.

Could you communicate the corrections to Mark? He maintains the base of the gauge library and the translation that goes with it.
Actually, it would be better if you only communicate the translation with him because the gauges have their own independent translation system.

For those who have an installation from before the translation system: please note that the [string] section from the cumulusutils.ini file can be removed.
It is not used anymore. It does not harm but it has a performance consequence (not very big).

Re: Map without stations on it

Post by sutne »

The norwegian adress is probably me.
I did try to reinstal Cumulusutils the other day, a completly new installation.
My main problem is language. Utils does not accept no, NO, no-NO, nb-NO or nn_NO and I ended up with en-GB.

Then I noticed that Maps always had errors on the lock.
I do not know if I have something wrong in the .ini file.

Ah, OK. The language definition has been changed to a full locale specification in the ini-file.
The first two letters are used for the language file specification.

For Norway it appears a bit complex in the sense that NO only holds for the two letter code.
I did not refer to the Microsoft documentation in the manual (thought I had but alas) so if you look on this page and download the published version, you have full information of what I intend to implement.

For Norway (search for 'Norwegian' in that document) that means in summary:

Norwegian (Bokmål): no
Norwegian (Bokmål): nb
Norwegian (Bokmål): nb-NO
Norwegian (Nynorsk): nn
Norwegian (Nynorsk): nn-NO
Norwegian Bokmål : nb-SJ (Svalbard and Jan Mayen)

As CumulusUtils now requires the five character locale you have to chose one of the three possibilities.
However, I check whether the language exists for the gauges. If it does not, I default to en-GB. Norwegian has been implemented for the gauges as NO which does not match nb nor nn (note that test the uppercase version of the code, no need for the user to alter case).

So here are the two options I can give you:
  1. I can issue a new release which would translate both nb and nn to NO for the gauges and would accept both languages. This would lead to only one language file for all Norwegians.
  2. If you want to make the distinction between the two, you have to modify the gauges language file for the two different Norwegian languages. I will then add both languages to the list of accepted languages. This will lead to two possible language files for Norwegians.
The easy way out probably is option one, but for me both options are equally acceptable.

EDIT: I modified the manual for reference to the Microsoft page to make thing clearer.
