Help! - VP2 not downloading after PC crash/restore

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Help! - VP2 not downloading after PC crash/restore

Post by forestedge »

Following a complete hard disk failure a couple days ago, I have now ugraded to a SSD and restored the Cumulus MX program from Cloud backup.
Unfortunately the back up did not include the MX.exe file and possibly others for some reason. I then reinstalled the MX3050 folders and files over the top, keeping my data files and ini file.
I could do a new install but dont want to lose all my interface settings and data! :bash:

When run as administrator the station is connected but many errors like !!! VP2 Not woken occur and the dashboard shows zero for all values.
I have successfully connected and downloaded ok with the Davis Weatherlink program. Any help appreciated, MX Diags file attached.

I have since started with a fresh install of MX3050 and copied over original cumulus.ini, data, web and webfile folders from back up. Same error of console not waking as below.
The console is a Vantage Vue connected to a wireless VP2 station.

Perhaps a console reboot could help https://www.manula.com/manuals/pws/davi ... he-console
2019-08-04 12:17:36.283 GetRainfallTotals: Error on line 2566 of dayfile.txt: Input string was not in a correct format.
You should also fix up line 2566 in dayfile.txt

Enjoy,
Paul

Thanks Paul, tried this without success then checked the COM port that CMX was using...found the backup ini file I restored was using COM3 and the Windows rebuild had assigned COM4! :groan:
Updated the ini file and all working again....just got to sort the webcam out now!

It did cross my mind that you should check the com port when I read your earlier post. However you had this in your diags file:

Code: Select all

2019-08-04 12:17:36.283 Serial device = COM3
2019-08-04 12:17:36.283 Serial speed = 19200
2019-08-04 12:17:36.579 Connected OK
So I assumed your port choice was correct.

@mcrossley: perhaps that log message needs rephrasing?
