Well done Ray so have I.
Can you please tell me why you are threatening to close down
sandaysoft.com's server without properly investigating the spoofing of the sites email address.

A lot of people around the world rely heavily on this site and the
weather software it supports to produce weather websites and send data
to Weatherunderground, The Met Office and numerous other weather related sites.

It would be a travesty if you shut this down without properly
investigating the problem, and cause a lot of problems to weather enthusiasts world wide.

Regards

David Jordan
I hope others will do the same.

Well done David. Good reply. Hopefully it will make them think.

My weather website - www.cheadlehulmeweather.co.uk - is hosted by your company via Steve Loft, owner of sandaysoft.com. Steve has made us aware that because of some spam emails being sent from that site's IP address you are threatening to close the service unless those emails do not cease.

Steve has investigated and can find no evidence anyone who uses his hosting service is responsible for sending them. He suspects the IP address is being spoofed by the perpetrator.

I am pleading with you not to close the service. My weather site is very popular with visits from all over the world. I rely on Steve to host it for me as I’m unable to do it myself. The Cumulus site contains a huge amount of useful info plus a dedicated forum. It would be a real shame were that to be lost. Please reconsider your decision. I’m positive no one who uses the forum is responsible for the spam. Please work with Steve in resolving the problem,

Thank you.

I have also emailed Hetzner requesting they take a more supportive roll in this issue and help steve, rather than pull the plug on him.

I've received this reply this morning. Obviously I'm unable to login as I'm not the customer. I'm guessing all the others who posted will receive identical messages.

Any advice Steve on how we can help you with this?

"Dear Client,

Thank you very much for your enquiry. For reasons of security and privacy, we require you to submit a support request via the administration interface konsoleH (https://konsoleh.your-server.de/) so that we can assist you.

We shall reply to your support request as soon as we can.

Thank you for your understanding."

I completed the online form with no ID needed and received an automated acknowledgement last night.
Today I have been told my email regarding spam/abuse will receive an abuse id!

Hello,

Thank you for your mail.

Are you our customer and did you received an abuse-mail from us? I'm trying to understand your mail.

Thank you!

Kind regards

Dominik Prüßner
Well I got a totally different response!! Guess it depends on which tech you get. I responded with.
Hello Dominik,

I am not a customer of yours, but Steve Loft of sandaysoft.com is. and it is his site that you are threatening to close because of a spoofing email problem.

I am a user of that site, which supports weather station software called Cumulus, which is used by over 5,000 people worldwide, so it would be a great loss to them if you closed the site down.

I hope that explains the original email.

Regards

David
If we keep up the pressure they may crack!!

Good work men! I don't know how many stations Steve is hosting but it would be helpful to our cause if they could take the time to write and express concern at the possible cessation of our hosting service.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I've also sent a message via that form url. I'd urge as many as possible to do the same whether you are hosted by Steve or not.

This may not be relevant but my brother runs a similar hosting service to Steve which I use. He has contacted me in the past and said that Cumulus uses a very large amount of bandwidth, especially caused by frequency of uploading, especially the graph files apparently. To alleviate this I cut down my upload interval. Just wondering if we are using a lot of bandwidth and they are using this as an excuse or doesn't it work like that?

I received an automatic message, followed by another email that an Abuse ID will be assigned once my inquiry is processed. This last email came from abuse@hetzner.com.
