Android app

Post by Alan WS »

Hello,

Very new to this.

I am trying to use an Android app called 'Weather Station'. It is described as an Android app for Cumulus weather station software.

I am stuck on the first page 'Set Location URL'. Does anyone know how I find this location please. Sorry if I am being dumb.

It is the location of your website where it will look to find the files it requires to produce the report i.e. http:/mywebsite.com/

I am sure I am missing something obvious but I am very new to this. Where do I find the 'mywebsite' but of the URL? Is this something that is set up by Cumulus or Aercus or myself?

If you didn't set up Cumulus to upload to a website with an address, then you won't be able to use the app until you do so.

Ah thank you.

I didn't know that.

I have had a look at the help file
s on how to create a website for the weather data and it looks quite complicated. But I will persevere.

thanks again

I think he's referring to this one:-

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... herstation

I've got it running on my phone & quite like it, especially the widget on the front screen.

As soon as I unlock my phone, I see something like this, without launching an app.

I did have a few issues getting it going properly, but all resolved in another thread, including copies of realtime.xml & sunbird.txt in one of my post.

Thanks Phil, I will give it a try tomorrow.
Have to go up to the weather station and change the temp/hum that was burned to prices from a 250W FM transmitter :-(
Have a nice weekend!

Hi Gunnar.

I had Pocket PWS http://android.teszdesign.hu/ running fine on a Samsung S3.

I bought an S6 at Christmas and have only now tried to set up PWS but it wont work for me.

I have the realtime txt and xml files in the correct server locations and can see them update.

The both files have all the contents populated but the display remains 'blanked'

I have also just tried to set it up on a Nexus 7 with the same result.

So, sorry my friend, I cant help you at this moment.

ps. just out of interest my URL is http://www/maghull-scene.co.uk/www/Cumulus/realtime.xml ( the www bit in the middle is good)

Can anyone else get this data to read please?

URL for ftp is ftp://maghullscene@maghull-scene.co.uk/ ... altime.xml

Hi,

Trying to connect to http://www/maghull-scene.co.uk/www/Cumulus/realtime.xml
But there must be something wrong with that link. http://www.maghull-scene.co.uk works but http://www/maghull-scene.co.uk/www/Cumulus/realtime.xml with the change from / to . between www and maghull does not work.
Can u check and get back?

the correct link is: http://www.maghull-scene.co.uk/Cumulus/realtime.xml

putting http://www/ means a domain name of www its wrong and no point in even trying it.

Do you mean my Station? There's a few Phils I think.

My XML is at http://weather.inverellit.com/realtime.xml

and it contains this....
