Longest Uptimes?

Post by westonweather »

My Cumulus server is just about to roll over to 400 days of continuos uptime. Cumulus software itself is currently on 50 days - I've never restarted it, it does it itself from time to time.

Here is my system page: http://www.westonweather.co.uk/system.php

So, just for fun...what are your uptimes?

30 days is about the max here due to windows updates.
I take you only update your computer every couple of years :)

Same here, about 30 days due to the monthly reboot for updates.

It's a dedicated server behind a firewall that no one uses, so updates aren't that important. Maybe I'll plug a keyboard / mouse & monitor in one day and do them

Does it have .Net 4.5 installed? You're need that if you ever run Cumulus MX.
Still that's a very good uptime for a windows box.

I honestly don't know, but I don't anticipate upgrading to Cumulus MX for a long while yet.

If it aint broke, don't fix it - and it's not.

I don't "need" anything else from my weather server at the moment, so while I like shiny new buttons to press as much as the next person, it's not entirely necessary. Appreciate I'll eventually get stuck without support when it does break though...

Since I run a 1.6Ghz atom netbook that does everything include hourly time-lapse, it requires a restart every month or so.
The poor thing runs and works 24 hours a day.

The dedicated PC for Cumulus and the webserver was up for about 140 days (can't remember the exact number but it was a record) when a power outage occurred 10 days ago... :groan:

2 months on and it's still churning away happily. 464 days of continuos uptime now. Remarkably I've had a lot of rewiring work in the past couple of weeks, so the power has been off numerous times and for an extended period, so the UPS has had a good work out too!

It's still going!

600+ days now. Only logged in to it to have a look why the camera has stopped working - but turns out the camera itself has failed :(

Still determined not to reboot the server until it stops serving!

1033 days, 6 hours & 19 minutes after first booting up the server I had to shut it down to replace a failed hard-drive on the raid array. Good job it was set up as Raid 1 originally!

By far the longest uptime any computer I have run has achieved - and likely will ever achieve?

I took the opportunity to replace the UPS whilst it was down too and blew the dust out of the casing.

Here's to the next 1000 days? Wishful thinking maybe...
