I've bought a Davis vantage pro 2 for use at work and will be using Cumulus.
Do I have to install the supplied weatherlink software or will Cumulus be sufficient?

Re: Do I need weatherlink?
Cumulus can't currently change the station's logger interval from the default 10 minutes, so if you do want to change that, you'll need Weatherlink.
Do you have a USB, serial, or IP logger?

Re: Do I need weatherlink?
You need to read this, and the thread it links to: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#I_get_ ... is_station
However, I have had a theory about why the 'direct' USB support doesn't work, and I've produced a new version of cumulus.exe, zipped here: http://nybbles.co.uk/downloads/Cumulus.zip
It's possible that this version might work without needing the SiLabs virtual serial port driver. To use it, you'd need to install the full version of Cumulus (currently build 1030), and then unzip the new cumulus.exe before you try to run Cumulus. Select 'USB' as the VP2 type. If it can't connect, you'll have to resort to the VSP driver.

I tried the new Cumulus.exe and selected connection type USB and I received the error attached. I have resorted the using the com port for coms and all works fine.
Thanks.

Re: Do I need weatherlink?
Thanks for trying. It must be something to do with calling the DLL from Delphi, maybe I'll work it out one day
