Davis VP2 - new ISS - temp spike
My newly installed ISS has just recorded a temp spike of 4.5°C in 5 minutes.
What on earth could cause that? No obvious evidence of fires or anything else in my garden. After the last week this is depressing.

And the supplied backup battery in the ISS is now showing LOW. It’s only been operational 8.5 hours. What’s going on? Are the two related?

Re: Davis VP2 - new ISS - temp spike
I wonder if the low battery charge plus the fact the capacitor hasn’t been charged might be the cause.
Seems a huge coincidence it spiked 3 hours after sunset and the supplied battery has been exhausted. I’ve replaced it with the one from my old station.

I don't suppose the old ISS could be sitting somewhere & occasionally sending a dud packet through.

It’s upstairs in a bedroom with the battery removed. I’ve put the old battery back in, refreshed the web data and it’s still showing LOW.
Faulty circuit board?
I have two transmitters - 1 is for the wind and 2 for the ISS.

The console is now showing rain being recorded. It’s not raining. It couldn’t be the console could it?
How do you perform a reset on the console?

Re: Davis VP2 - new ISS - temp spike
Just found this on the Davis FAQ...
Note: Once triggered, a low battery warning does not reset automatically until midnight. So even if you’ve inserted a brand new battery, the warning may not disappear until the next day – this is perfectly normal. Occasionally the first midnight reset doesn’t work and it may take 2-3 days before the warning disappears – provided the outside data is being received normally this is not a cause for concern.
I’ll have to be patient. But have sent an email to ProData. Hopefully it can be resolved quickly.

Re: Davis VP2 - new ISS - temp spike
I performed a reset on the console. One battery removed, power lead disconnected and data logger removed.
Waited 30 seconds and reconnected in reverse order. Outside temp now dropped to <10°C. No rain being recorded. All-time record to be corrected.
Too early to say what is the cause but for now at least the ISS temp seems okay.

Re: Davis VP2 - new ISS - temp spike
Two hours after the console reset and things are still okay. It’s beginning to look like the problem was with the console all the time.
Has anyone ever performed a console reset including taking out the data logger which appears to be the critical action?
