Humidity.

Post by Altocumulus »

I have a just replaced a faulty T/H sensor showing low outdoor humidities. VP2.

After replacement I still have low humidity - in wet snow, this morning, I'm recording as low as 26% with a derived dew point of -16.4C!

Has anyone else seen this? It may be my replacement wasn't required or I have a rogue new one!

I've not heard of this with a new sensor, of course the new one could be contaminated.

As you have a spare one, you could try the Sensirion reconditioning process on the old one - I have had success doing that in the past, but it was not reading as low as yours.

New one could be contaminated, aye, that's what Prodata said.

It has, since, slowly risen - currently 93% - hope it was just an acclimatisation issue.

I've noticed some of the plastic on the unit is fragile. Parts of the shelter door are breaking off when I touch it - new one ordered, just hope the rest remains sturdy enough!

Thanks Mark.

07:15 Outside conditions damp/wet. 1.2mm rain in last hour.

Air 5.4C
Dew -2.9C
Humidity 55%

I'll fix up a mercury in glass thermometer as a wet bulb, to check, but it looks like the new unit is faulty.

1500 - humidity 15%!

Changed channel on ISS to 4, from 1 (default).

Changing channel on the ISS is easy.
Changing channel/station on the console is fickle.

It took a few times to take and state it is receiving from station 4, as it kept reverting back to 1.

Finally it accepted the change to 4, and immediately the humidity changed from 15% to 93%.

Interference on wifi, perhaps, but from where!? We're as rural as they come and there's only one WOW site I know of and that's 8miles distant.
I've not added anything into the house that is broadcasting and would coincide with the issue.

Hopefully a solution!

I'm on a roll today......
