You can run them standalone (that's how mine is configured).
The only thing to be aware of is, if you don't have a WLL pro subscription, you will get gaps in data when CMX is offline, like this, when I did the 3100 update on Saturday:

You need to configure the Airlink up on a basic Weatherlink account - you have do to this before you can use it - make a note of the DeviceID, as CMX needs this.
Settings>Extra Settings.
Select Davis Airlink (indoor or outdoor)
Select the AQI you want to use.
You can check Use autoIP address discovery if you only have a single unit. (I don't have this checked, - i use a DHCP reservation against the MAC address so it always gets the same IP address)
Enter the IP address (if not using DHCP) and Station ID (Device ID) against the outdoor (or indoor) sensor you have configured.

Here is a plot from an indoor sensor the other day. It is in our kitchen-diner.
It was midday the following day before the readings dropped to near zero again - how much particulates from one match!

Similar here, high pressure steady conditions aren't good for air quality :cry:
