Davis 6343OV and 6345

Post by Mapantz »

What is the difference between the Davis 6343OV and 6345?

I know the first one is now discontinued, but I cannot find much in the way of information about it.

I think it was Overseas model (frequency different than US)

US Models: 902-928 MHz FHSS,
Overseas Models: 868.0 - 868.6 MHz FHSS.

seen this OV used I think in other devices by Davis. Davis now put EU or UK behind most products numbers

No, I have actually replied to the OP via PM but let me repeat here:

6343 is the VP1 version - not compatible with VP2. 6345 is the VP2 version.

But yes the number with no suffix is the US wireless frequency. Most other territories are OV like EU/UK, eg 6345OV. (Though sometimes the wireless rules are different again in some places like Australia, so there's probably a 6345AU I'm guessing, though I've never seen one.) If there's no mains adapter needed/supplied then the wireless suffix will be OV as in 6345OV for use in the UK.)

If the wireless device has a mains adapter like a console then the suffix may be overwritten further with the type of adapter. So a UK console would be 6312UK, which is has a UK 3-pin adapter, but implicitly covers OV frequencies. Similarly 6312EU etc.
