Software switch

Post by laulau »

Hi,
Could someone point me how to switch from CumulusMX to Weatherlink and back so that the data are up to date in both software ?
Thanks
Laurent

I have maintained both Weatherlink and Cumulus data for over 10 years. Some people are still using VirtualVP program that allows running more than one weather program at a time from the same console, but that program is no longer supported and doesn't run on all platforms (still available to download). I run Cumulus full time, only to stop it twice a month to run WL for a short time and get the data in to Weatherlink. A 10 minute logger interval gives 17 days before data rollover, so on the 1st and 15th each month gets the full data into WL, with a day or two cushion.

Enjoy,
Paul

I've been doing it for years now by shutting MX down a few times a day & firing up Weatherlink with a command option to just download the data & then quit.

MX loads again after that. It's off air for around a minute.

Task Scheduler takes care of the starts & Stops.

PaulMy, you could experiment with the above & try once a day.

Maybe you can use Virtual Serial Ports Emulator from Eterlogic for Windows.
Free for 32 bits.

VSPE works fine when you have an unidirectional communication station that only send data.
For VP2 a bidirectionnel communication is needed so i don't think you can share the VP serial port.

I did run this on Windows10 64 bits with WsWin, Cumulus 1 and CumulusMX, but Weatherlink didn't work. (CRC-error)
