Temperature Sensor
Has anyone changed their temperature sensor?
Prodata talk about an offset which is, presumably, a straightforward figure to add somewhere - but what and where?
I guess the new sensor replaces the existing - is it an easy - quick - job?

Re: Temperature Sensor
Yes, easy replacement. If you have an older ISS then the offset needs to be applied to your VP2 console...
- Select TEMP
- Press and release 2ND, then press and hold SET.
After a moment, the variable you’ve selected begins to blink. Keep holding SET until the Calibration Offset message displays in the ticker.
The ticker displays the current calibration offset. - Press the + and - keys to add or subtract from the temperature offset value.
- Press DONE to exit calibration

I've just watched (painfully) the pair of videos on the Davis site on how to replace the sensor. Looks straightforward enough
Not too sure on model age, it was purchased in 2011,
I have 6152UK on the console, with E J1 ZD the other three characters.

Re: Temperature Sensor
Replaced.
Probably 15 minutes of work - having the fan assembly both hindered and helped!
The part taken out doesn't have a reference that corresponds to any of the sensors mentioned on the Prodata article. (Typical).
Should have placed the rain funnel on before installing battery; ended up with 58mm of rain! Corrected!
Thanks Mark, just to work out if and what offset is needed!

Re: Temperature Sensor
I was able to correct the daily rainfall amount, on the console, back to zero. But how does one clear the Storm value? Using the same technique doesn't do anything.....

Re: Temperature Sensor
Currently you cannot reset the storm value. Only by stopping Cumulus, removing the bad data from the logs and restarting.

Re: Temperature Sensor
Hi Mark, it's the figure on the console that I am trying to change.

Ah, sorry, OK, no idea, if it's not in the user manual, then... anyone?

Re: Temperature Sensor
Mark, I'll just leave it to work it out by itself. The records in Cumulus are the more important ones as far as my archive is concerned and Storm reference should clear from Cumulus within the next 24 hours.
I need to correct the data records at some stage.
I've found the buttons on the foot of the dayfile.txt (Cumulus Edit) - but I can't access them as they only just appear on the page (no matter how I realign/size the page) - perhaps it's a function of my netbook screen display? I'll have to use notepad.
After some confusion on what the offset is, it has been sorted.

A single instance of -67.8C last night suggests Global Warming isn't happening soon

Re: Temperature Sensor
Almost certainly a failed temperature / humidity sensor. Contact your supplier who should be able to ship one. How old is your station?

Re: Temperature Sensor
thanks Ray
It was new in 2015 but has already had 2 new 'harnesses', one under warranty. Poor equipment resilience? I do live on a very exposed coastal location however, with strong winds and driving saline winds which probably dont help!

Re: Temperature Sensor
Hi Ted, the salt air is almost certainly the reason for the short life of the sensor. I remember Steve having the same problem when he lived in Orkney. Pity they don’t make them more resistant to salt air.
