You can sort it with Excel, but you need to be careful. When you import it (use a copy) tell it that the first column is a date in format DMY. Then sort 'oldest to newest' using the first column. At that point you may need to tell it again that the first column is in format dd/mm/yy. Then do a 'save as' to a CSV file. You should then have a correctly sorted, correctly formatted file which you can rename to dayfile.txt.

I cannot locate the postings at the moment, but somewhere on this forum, I have commented before about using 'Open Office' or 'Libre Office' for the 'Calc' functionality of a spreadsheet and the options to select to make sure the Cumulus formatting is preserved.

I do use a free 'CSV' editor (http://csved.sjfrancke.nl/index.html) that includes sort and much other functionality in a simpler interface than a spreadsheet successfully with Cumulus log files for many of my experiments.

Thanks Duke for providing that link to my mention of options, proving that my memory of what I have done is still okay, it is just my use of a computer to search that needs improvement.

Thanks everyone for the help. I suppose I should have said that while I do have at least "compatible" spreadsheet programs on my computer, I have never had the need to learn to use them. Guess I do now.

Hello everyone,

Thank you Steve for Cumulus it has been a great. We are using it for Eagle Weather and we want to add our historical data.
Does the WLconverter cover extra sensors? If not is it open source where I could modify it to cover the extra sensors.

Thanks,
Bryan

It attempts to, yes; see the description in the first post - "It creates 'extra' log files for extra sensor data. If you have no extra sensors, this file can be ignored."

I have data from my Davis Weatherlink program that goes back to 1997. I have used the tool to convert that to the Cumulus program. Unfortunately it is corrupted with many extremes. The data since I started using Cumulus is correct.

I would like to do the conversion again.

What is the best way to eliminate the old corrupted data?

Currently running 1.9.4 build 1099 and have a Davis Vantage Pro 2 wireless.

Hi, I downloaded ver 1.5 of the converter and have tried a few WLK files fom 2011 and 2012. The program processes them but when saved nothing appears in the Converted folder. :(

All the weatherlink files were created in ver 5 and above. Any ideas?

If you attach a couple of the wlk files, I'll try them here and see if I can see what's happening.

Thanks, for some reason when I uploaded a couple files it says:
The extension wlk is not allowed.

I selected the 2010-10.wlk file, ticked 'process all files in same directory' and clicked 'save' and it converted all three files for me. I'm afraid I have no idea why it won't work for you, unless it's some kind of permissions problem related to where you extracted the contents of the zip file.
