[RESOLVED] Cumulus crash ...

Post by mimo57 »

Hello, I'm using because I Cumulus crash once or twice per day  .
I'm on a PC that has used it. It is devoid of any program except antivirus (avast) and teamviewer because no screen.
OS: Windows XP SP3 (also planted without MS, so I made this update (SP3) believing it will solve the problem). But nothing, always the same.
I think that similar topics have already dealt with this problem, but nothing helped me to solve this malfunction.

Cumulus 1.9.2 Build 1032
WMR200
XP SP3

When Cumulus crashes, a bugreport.txt file is produced. Please attach it. It is impossible for me to do anything in response to the statement that "Cumulus crashes".

Are you talking about it hanging? If it's the same problem that others have posted about, it's hanging in the Windows system code communicating with station. I have no idea why and I have no idea what if anything I can do to fix it. I thought I had already made that clear?

I made a small change in the latest beta, which I posted about in one of the other threads. It might help avoiding the problem occurring.

Hello,

I did not bugreport.txt.
Symptoms crash Cumulus are: fixed main window.
When I request the closure of Cumulus, with X, I have a Windows page opens and asks to force close the program by sending an error report to Microsoft.
The next crash, I'd make a screenshot and Windows Error Report, I'll post here.

thank you

That sounds like the same problem as in the other threads. It hangs in Windows. I have no idea why and no idea what I can do to stop it. Try the beta.

Hi Steve,

I switched from a laptop with USB3 to an older PC running XP. It''s been up and running for a few days now without any hang ups at all. It had to be a hardware compatibility issue.

Hope your health improves. Take care

It's a very odd problem, but I agree it has to be some kind of hardware/driver compatibility issue. I switched mine to USB3 (on Windows 7) and it continued to work OK. And someone else switched from USB3 to USB2 and it didn't help.

The change I did in the beta version may help to avoid the problem, but no-one has yet reported back on that. And no, I do not want you to try it if yours is now working! I wouldn't want you to do anything that would risk yours not working again, given that we don't really understand the problem.

But you don't have a WMR200, do you? It's not completely obvious from this thread (apart from it being in the OS section) but that's the station type that (for some people) suffers from this particular problem.

You can emphasise Cumulus if you like, but I assure you, it's hanging in WINDOWS code, trying to write to the USB. I'll try one final time: PLEASE TRY THE BETA, if only to confirm that the change I made doesn't avoid the problem.

Ok, this should not be angry
I just wanted to send a screenshot of the Windows error, but as usual, it worked well for 3/4 days. :bash:
But it's done. I followed your advice and installed the beta tonight on my pc still same OS (WinXP).
If I have the problem again or if it seems stable for several days, I'll post here. :geek:

Thank you for your work

Hello,

as advertised, I just post a feedback on my problem of crashing cumulus. :x
Despite being passed to the beta, I had a crash (cumulus frozen) after less than 5 hours. :bash:

Steve, if you want, I can send you by mail the error report windows (2MB). Make me a sign.

You can send me it, whatever it is, but I don't know if I'll know what to do with it, and if I can work out what to do with it, it's unlikely to tell me any more than I already know, i.e. it's hanging in the Windows ntdll DLL in a function called NtWriteFile

7c90df88 +00a ntdll.dll NtWriteFile
7c810e90 +069 kernel32.dll WriteFile
0065510e +02a cumulus.exe JvHidControllerClass TJvHidDevice.WriteFile
