Hi,
This morning my anemometer transmitter gave up
Looking for spare part.
I will be interested if someone owns an unused STR938.
Many thanks

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
Hi,
Does anyone know if the transmitter is supposed to send data (red led blink) without the anemometer connected?
When i took the transmitter down the red led was always on. Since i made a little cleaning no more sign of life
Thanks

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
It seems that finding a replacement is not possible.
So i have to repair it
Is there someone who has information on the functioning of the anemometer?

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
Have you tried the obvious - tried a 'reset" , new batteries, clean battery contacts, substitute nicad from another transmitter (nicad may have a short).
When everything is functioning you should see the red light blink shortly after inserting batteries and then a blink on scheduled transmit. I think the anometer must be plugged into the transmitter to work so check the cable for nicks and breaks and clean the contacts. All things I am sure you have done. If all fails get a WMR88 or 88A. Inexpensive and at least it will be new. I am running a WMR968 for wind data and a WMR-88 for all the rest. That means for me running two instances of Cumulus and cherry picking the required data. It works for me!

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
The RJ12 connector is partially oxidized and also some copper pads of the circuit!
I have to replace the connector and and make some connections with wires.
I haven't yet looked at the connector of the anemometer that is still on the roof.

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
Reparations done and transmitting again
No wind at the moment to be sure ALL is working
Just have to fit it in the right position again (not my favorite place on the roof)
I'll do that later; this week end if it's not too windy
What should i do to prevent this happening again ?

Re: WMR928 Anemometer transmitter
Hi Laurent,
I too have a WMR928 but my rain gauge has packed up. Similar to yours, the red light is on all the time. I think the light should only flash when it is transmitting data.
Did you find a specific thing wrong or was it just a general clean up & replace the RJ12 that worked?
Alkaline batteries replaced but the 3.6v NiMh seem to be difficult to obtain.

Yes, the cleaning and the replacement of the oxidised RJ12 does the trick.
