Been monitoring Mapson, looks like it's Locked, no Maps been generated since 2020-07-20.

Yes, solved, should be working again.

I'll try to find through the logfiles where the lock came from.
I assume this issue is caused because some users did not update but I am not sure.

I'll get back on this.
The issue with "Erics Gooseberry Hill" has not been solved yet but that seems to be a completely different problem, more like a setting on his machine.

Although the 'map thing' takes the attention a bit away from meteorology into the technique, it is relevant because it is about the internet access/reliability. It seems to be around Australia as well (I have no reports from elsewhere). That's why it is important to find the source of the problem (creating a lock and not removing it).

I found the origin. It is a Norwegian address which is apparently checking out / using the tool, but breaking it off at some unwanted point.
Don't know, I'll keep an eye on it.

Following up on a message by BeaumarisWX of 25/7 that again there was an orphaned lockfile I did some research and found the lockfile existed from 23/7, this time from an unknown German address with further no activity at all.

Apparently people are trying out the tool and breaking of during a run, I have no other explanation.

However, because the whole process of locking/delocking hardly can take more than a minute (typically some 10 - 20 seconds) , I will create a time/date test on the age of an existing lockfile and if older than 3 minutes, I will clear it. That will prevent deadlocks because of an orphaned lockfile. This feature will be implemented in 3.9.11, so before an obligatory use of CMX 3.7.0

It now seems all to be working OK. I just seem to have lost billy on the way.

If anybody wonders about the why of the map, the following.

Today was a warm day over here and I am now sitting outside at 20 degr with a nice 0% beer enjoying the silence of the calm warm evening.
At the same time I open my site on the tablet and go to the map looking for the BeaumarisWX. In Tasmania it is fresh, windy. I can look at the sun coming up over the Tasman Sea and at a star which I can't see in the Northern Hemisphere.

That's what I made this for

That's what the map is for: browsing the world and see what the weather is like in other places, if a camera is there you can literally see other places.
Like I am switching now to San Sebastian where an ir camera has a great view on the city and the gulf of Biskaye.

It's getting somewhere.

@billy: you're back and your map is working! A miracle? Or did you do something?
If neither is true than it must be the redesign of the fetch of the URL through HttpClient in async mode
