Cumulus MX release 3.9.2 (build 3097)

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Cumulus MX release 3.9.2 (build 3097)

Post by meteosangonera »

Despite using CUMULUS MX for many years, I still find difficult to update the program.

In this last update mcrossley has not published the list of files to be modified.

Can anyone clarify which files have been modified?

Or even better, is there a method to update CUMULUSMX for all future versions without losing any settings we have?

Thank you very much.

The simplest, recommended way is..

1. Stop Cumulus.
2. Make sure you have a backup copy of the Cumulus folder.
3. Copy the entire contents of the zip file to your Cumulus folder.
4. Start Cumulus again.

That will leave obsolete files in place.
Perhaps a note re obsolete files should be incorporated in Updates.txt as and when appropriate?

True, though they do no harm.
Obsolete files can be listed, and I think have been in the past, I'll try and ensure they are in the future, though they don't happen very often.

I posted something I've been working on that may be of interest - at viewtopic.php?f=40&t=18813 "Cumulus MX Update Helper Script". I chose to start a separate thread because it isn't tied to any particular release.
Cheers,
Bob

It worked perfectly.

I only had to re-apply a small change in a single file (gauges.htm).

But now there's another new version, I can't get enough of it. :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for your great work.

Doesn't this overwrite your current data files?

Bear with me here just to make sure I'm doing this correctly because upgrade isn't taking for me for some reason.
Downloaded most current version
Opened up Filezilla and connected to Rpi
Dragged latest version of CumulusMX zip file into CumulusMX file on right pane of Filezilla
Restarted the Rpi

Still not running current version though.

Please note that I solved all your update troubles with the Multiplatform Installer for CMX.
You may wish to start using this.
